People all have stories; they just don’t have many listeners.
— Seven Days in Utopia, p. 142

Commentary:

What a difference a few days makes… If you have noticed, over the past three weeks, we had to post several blogs from previous years. Here is part of the story. We brought my wife out of the mountains near Edwards, Colorado, where our new home is being completed down to Denver to deal with hypoxia about 40 days ago. A week or so into our hotel stay down here, my wife, daughter, and I got covid in the hotel. It has been one of the most difficult three weeks I have lived through. It was hellacious, awful, scary, and relentless. I took my first ride in an ambulance in the midst of it. This variant is evil. There were weak moments that I didn’t know if I would live or wanted to live. I became totally dependent on the Lord for life. And… that is exactly where I needed to be. It transforms, re-news, clarifies, ignites your purpose… to be hanging by what seems to be a thread only to find out it was the hand of God, the powerful hand of the Almighty. That hand could have easily pulled me straight into His presence in heaven, an awesome unimaginable place to be for sure—the hope of all believers. Or, as in my case, that hand gave me the strength moment by moment for one more breath, another glimmer of hope, and most of all, compassion for the suffering among us. There are heroes to this story that I want to tell you about, but I will save it for next time. We are on the mend, we are changed, we are shaken but not broken because of Him and only Him. I count it a privilege to be able to travel further along this sacred journey with you. See His face, Feel His presence, Trust His love.

“… you are living letters written by Christ, not with ink but by the Spirit of the living God—not carved onto stone tablets but on the tablets of tender hearts.”
