There are No Coincidences

I discovered that life is a sacred journey. I learned that a meltdown can lead to greatness, common strangers can become pathfinders, and a fork in the road can change a destiny. I also found that around every bend of this wild adventure, modern-day parables are revealed to those whose eyes are open, and often a name is more than a name.

I noticed an antique seed bin and plow with 70-year-old seed in it one day while meandering across our land on a morning walk. I heard God say that the seed represents unplanted dreams. He said that the seed that represents me is in there. Then He said to plant a seed and ask what it symbolizes. I did and heard Him say, “I called you to write.”

Three weeks later I was at the café down the road in Utopia and noticed a thumbtacked ad for the Utopia Driving Range next to the cemetery, 1 mile south of town. Out of curiosity, I drove out. While observing this minimalist range and cemetery, God said, “This is the spot, write the book.”

I did and then a movie director read it and said this is going to be my first movie. And he did it and got Robert Duvall to play the lead. 16,500 people have crossed the line into eternity that we have documented because of that movie. Don’t for a second believe that there are coincidences. Look at life with new eyes and know that God is putting the pieces of your puzzle together with precision, not coincidences.  When we walk with Him, listen to His voice, and take Him at His word, look out… Awe happens.

“Whether you turn to the right or to the left, your ears will hear a voice behind you, saying, 'This is the way; walk in it'.”
