Listen To The Learning

“Johnny asked if I ever slowed down to just think. He said this was one of the places he came to each day just to let the experience of the day have a chance to sink in deeply. He said time to contemplate, time to listen to the learning, is crucial in the change process.

I spent the remainder of the afternoon sitting by the river with my journal. It was the first time in a long time that I had taken the time to slow down, to re-evaluate my life. It was a deep time for a guy who spent most of his time in the shallow waters of life”

- Seven Days in Utopia, p. 48

Today’s picture is of the Sabinal River in Utopia as fall is being ushered in. This week, though I am miles from there, I can see this sacred spot in my mind, feel the shift of the winds on a crisp clear fall morning as the seasons of life begin to change. It was a good week to crack open a new journal and listen once again to the learning from the day. I’m thankful for the twenty plus completed journals I have on my shelf, reminding me of the evident and consistent hand of God in my life. It is awe-inspiring.

“He makes me lie down in green pastures, He leads me beside quiet waters, He restores my soul.”
- Psalm 23: 2-3
