Sky Dancer
“The precision of God was at work in full force during our first out of the blue move to Colorado in the early 2000’s. God had spoken clearly to my wife that we were moving to Colorado from Texas for a destiny changing adventure. And within a year we did. Within a couple weeks or so of us arriving to the Denver area I got a call. Because of the book, Seven Days in Utopia, that was catching traction at the time, my sport psychology background, and ministry to men, I received an invitation to a brainstorming event with about 30 men from Denver who were creatively ministering around the world. The facilitator was also new to town and said that God asked him to bring us together. He was obedient and expectant, but nothing could have prepared him for what resulted from that day. Cross walkers, movie producers, pro sports chaplains, authors and others made up this afternoon of sharing God stories. After I shared my story with the group, the facilitator, whom had just finished reading my book, suggested that I meet the movie producer across the room at the break.”

Destiny is a big word. But, I have come to embrace it and realize when you walk with Jesus, destiny is what happens. The above excerpt from my book, Did He Make the Putt, describes such a time in our lives. We felt a call to Colorado and within a few weeks of being there I got invited to this meeting with people I had never met. Guess what—a movie was born that day when I met the movie producer at the break. A couple years into the planning and development stages we moved back to Texas to shoot the movie on site in Utopia.
Last year, we were once again called to a destiny changing adventure to Colorado from Texas. This time, my daughter, Hannah, heard the voice. Within a month, we sold our new amazing house near Ft. Worth and everything in it and moved to the Vail Valley towing a 5x9 U-Haul trailer with the remainder of our belongings from a 40-year marriage. We actually felt like this was a time of crossing into the promised land of our marriage. Promptly we all contracted Covid and Hannah and I survived only by the power of God. It was a close call. But… don’t you love that word… right after that battle, Hannah took her first ever flight in a small plane at the Vail airport, which is a quarter mile down the street from where God led us to live. Her Olympic dream as an ice dancer had ended with a career ending injury within a month of the Olympic trials a few years before. And now God was working on her new destiny, dancing in the sky. Today is her 25th birthday. A couple weeks ago she earned her commercial pilot’s license in under a year! No one does that. She learned in the mountains of Colorado under the most difficult of flying conditions in the U.S. And her instructor team included a former Top Gun Commander. This girl is amazing. And so as I write today, destiny is my word. In both of our destiny changing adventures to Colorado, God made it clear within a few weeks why He called us here. The first time was an unsuspecting movie, the second time was an unsuspecting call for my daughter to become a sky dancer. Today’s picture is of her plane. The tail number includes TL—air lingo stands for Tango Lima. A little God wink, she is a dancer and loves the Tango. There is more He is unfolding here as well. Stay tuned, destiny is still on the move. Not only for us, but for you as well…
