Noble Heart
“When you give you live; when you take you ache. Those who give are marked with a noble heart.”
- greatness, p.91
Commentary:
In 1996 Tom Lehman and Steve Jones were tied going into the final hole of the US Open. Steve was noticeably anxious as he moved from the 17th green to the 18th tee box. Observing this, Tom reached out and quoted a calming scripture for his friend and competitor as they walked to the tee box. Jones responded with thanks. He calmed down, focused, and parred the final hole, while Lehman, unfortunately, slipped to a bogie. Steve Jones won the US Open with the encouragement of Tom who reached out “inside the ropes” and willingly gave life-giving words to his competitor. Tom has a noble heart. Though Tom failed to win that major, he won his major at the British Open one month later. Tom Lehman is a man of greatness.
"Therefore encourage one another and build each other up…"
