Then he began the lesson of a lifetime with his little girl. He told her that God was a Dream-Giver and that it was evident that He had visited her in the antique shop today. But, he also said, there was a dream-taker as well. He was a thief, and he wanted to kill, steal, and destroy all dreams. There was a fierce battle between good and evil and we live in the midst of it. Most people don’t realize it; therefore they give away their dream without a fight. When you give away your dream, you give away your heart, the wellspring of life.

The good news is that those who know the Dream-Giver have the power to overcome the evil thief. But they must hold onto their dream or they will lose this power. All real dreams lead to God and that is why the enemy wants to take them away. Once people give up their God-given dream, they substitute others. But these others never fulfill. They are false dreams, empty dreams. That is where most people live: prisoners of the dream-taker.

God has made each of us to be extraordinary. He doesn’t create ordinary, we resign ourselves to that through hardship, failure, circumstances, and fear. When I say extraordinary, that is not a scoreboard thing. Extraordinary happens when we abide in Him in whatever circumstances surround us and fully partner with Him through it. When we do, dreams happen…His dreams for our lives. For sure they are opposed, but for the followers of Jesus, we know who wins in the end—we know the final score. Our final breath here is followed by our first breath in heaven. In the meantime, we get to live in an adventure watching the hand of God part the seas that come against us.

"The thief comes only to steal and kill and destroy;
I have come that they may have life, and have it to the full."
