Identity is Not a Number
“That score represented me. It was my identity. I was a failure, a choke, and soon to be the butt-end of a bunch of jokes.”
When self-worth is defined by performance plus the opinions of others, the fear of failure is born. This plague destroys both performances and quality of life. No score, no performance, no number should define a person. To survive and thrive as a performer we have to bring our identity to the course, not get our identity from the course.
