His Favor

He asked if I ever slowed down to just think.

Commentary:

During this time of the season, many of us find ourselves having unscheduled moments. The picture above was taken during one of those moments this week near our new home in the Vail Valley of Colorado. These moments may be your greatest gift during this Christmas season. Time to think. What is at the top of your thought list? What are the top three things that first come to your mind when you have this gift come your way? Do they cause panic or peace, anxiety or calm, clarity or confusion? Do they produce life or fear? I do believe that God has a beautiful present for you during your times of contemplation if you will work down the list to this thought. You will most likely hear it during a Christmas eve service or during Linus reading of the Christmas story while you watch A Charlie Brown Christmas, or during your reading of the Christmas story in Luke. There is a verse that should get your attention… it did for me this morning. “Glory to God in the highest, and on earth peace to men on whom His favor rests.” Luke 2: 14. It was from the angels who hang out with God. Take note. They said peace (not anxiety, worry, fear, doubt, stress, or confusion) to those whom His favor rests. Think about this: does His favor rest upon you? The truth for you this Christmas is that you can have this gift of peace. If you believe in Jesus, the one who was born on Christmas morning, the favor of God rests upon you. That is the new number one thought on my thought list this Christmas season.

“Suddenly a great company of the heavenly host appeared with the angel, praising God and saying, ‘Glory to God in the highest, and on earth peace to men on whom His favor rests.’”
- Luke 2: 14-15
